Re: Luongo for Bertuzzi.

No, it's not possible. They can't do it. They'd have to trade for Havlat, first of all, then sign him to a 3M deal which is seriously unlikely because he's due 2.866 million even before any raise for his play in the regular season and playoffs. If Havlat goes to arbitration he probably gets around 4.2 to 5 million. I'll even be generous and split this and call it 4.
Elias is not signing a one year deal anywhere. He is signing for many years, at least 4 and probably 5. He scored 61 points in 47 games coming off hepatitis A - he's the best left wing in the game. I think he will get mid to high 6s and there may be a team foolish enough to commit low 7s to him. That's 11M added to the Sharks, plus all their group 2 contracts that are mandatory 10% increases.
No team in the NHL can afford both Havlat and Elias, and this rumor has come from nowhere anyway - just the fact that Elias has Havlat's agent.

Umm... maybe you aren't getting this but tons of teams would be able to AFFORD ( <- please read that) Havlat and Elias.
No where did I say Elias is singing a one year deal. It's a rumor that Elias wants to play with Havlat. Niedermeyer took a paycut to play with his brother. It's possible Elias can be had a discount with Havlat. Again, possible. So Elias at 6 and Havlat at 5 = 11m. Did you not read the salary cap increased this year? That's another 5m to spend, Havlat is able to sign. Get rid of Nabokov = another 5m. Trading to get Havlat or Elias might mean another player is gone. That's another 1m. Thornton + McCauley gone? Another 3m free. How can you say it's not possible to have Havlat and Elias? Did you flunk math? Several teams are able to afford $11m, especially when they have a 5m increase in the cap. Saying it's not possible is beyond silly.
