I dont know about English soccer or much about Beckham but can someone tell me why the announcers kept ripping on him even after the goal. The announcer said something like this after the goal, "well, he still shouldnt be out there"

Given the low scoring in soccer, I would think that a guy who can take a shot like that would be invaluable to a team, even if the guy stood on one spot the entire game except for free kicks.
