If you have firefox (And why don't you?) you can use bookmarks to search. How?
Take a site you want to search on, like, google. A typical google url will look like this:
http://www.google.com/search?q=wikipedia
bookmark this. then go to properties of the bookmark and replace "wikipedia" with "%s." then set the keyword to something like "g." whenever you type in "g wikipedia" in the address bar, it'll search on google.

there's an easier way to do it: right-click in a search box on a web site, then click the option to create a search keyword. this feature is in the opera 9 beta as well.
