Geez, I'm not THAT bad.
The raise was straddling a line between value and protecting a hand in a spot where I had no information as to villain's holding. The consensus seems to be that this is either not desirable or not possible. But I haven't been playing well lately, so that's not surprising.

what type of hands are you protecting against that the villain would have gotten to the turn with? you have to balancing protecting your hand with the fact that when you are behind you are now putting ton of chips into the pot, AND you might cause him to fold a hand that will not pay you off in a big pot.
