So some of you are raggin on the dude who hit so many animals. Some of which might be justifed because he admitted later that alcohol was involved in one incident. But if you are older than the average age of posters here, which I am myself, then after 20 or 30 years of driving you will easily have hit some dogs and cats and a bunch of squirrels. Add 1 or more deer if you live or drive at night in the country.

The main thing is that although you can mildly try to swerve at slow speeds to avoid something, you should not endanger other drivers or yourself by any big moves to avoid smaller animals. Why would you want to total your car or be involved in a wreck with another one to avoid a squirrel which is nothing other than a rodent with fur, or even a dog?

The only exception is with a deer, when you might be better off running off the road depending on what is there since a deer can easily total a big car and sometimes get thrown into the windshield.
