Um, snow=pole and pole=more magnetic. Easier to monitor EM activity.

Snow doesn't necessarily equal pole. And is it really easier to monitor changes in electromagnetism at a place where the electromagnetic field is more intense? I'm not being a nit, I'm asking. I would think a place where the EM field is lower would be easier to detect an EM spike (signal to noise ratio), therefore somewhere in the South Pacific would make more sense.
