i think dealing poker is a very good job that pays well. i think the reason for the shortage of dealers is that many people dont know about it so they dont get involved. its also difficult for some people to go through the 8 week training course or however long it is. another reason why the floor will tell you they ran out of dealers is because they didnt expect there to be a need for more dealers so they didnt phone people in or get enough people to cover the shift. its not like these people can just be created out of thin air. i think a problem with dealing is that alot of dealers get down time when there are less tables going then the amount of dealers called in to work. of course you could look at it as getting a nice break but theyre losing money as they arent getting tipped while having down time.
