This was pretty widely hypothesized up until the early 20th century, but it has been disproven. Even if we couldn't see it directly we would be able to see its gravitational effects on the other planets.

Well... there could be a highly advanced race living on that planet that has found a way to use gravitational fields to their advantage. They probably have a huge satellite dish in their orbit that sends anti-gravity waves to Earth's direction to stop us from seeing them.
