A major contributor to global warming is the increased use of asphalt. Stand in the middle of a football field on a hot day, then go stand in a parking lot. Same amount of sun coming down, much hotter on the asphalt.
Multiply that by millions of parking lots, roads, driveways, side walks, etc, and their increased creation over the last 50 years, and hello global warming...
