One of my first times in Vegas years ago I went to the Desert Inn (DI) to play blackjack. I flew in but didn't have any hotel reservations. I started off at a $10 table and the cards kept hitting. I mean it just kept going and within a few hours I was playing $100 per hand and sometimes I'd play $500 per hand. I was having the luckiest streak of my life. After a while the pit boss comes up and asks if I am staying there and when I tell him I'm not and need a room he offers to RFB me and gets me set up in a penthouse suite with these great windows with a clicker to open the drapes. At the time I was so naive and thought this was the best thing that ever happened to me (actually it probably was).

I stayed for 2 days and ended up with a great profit. I don't remember exactly how much it was but it was more than $8000. The hotel gave me a limo to the airport and a card with the casino hosts name and number to call anytime I wanted to play.

From then on I would call in advance and they would pick me up at the airport in the DI limo and RFB me and I'd have a great time. Man, I wish they had never closed the DI.
