Just for the record I read both of these books (H4AP twice) before ever fliping over my first card and I can say for sure that i used many more of the concepts in H4AP than in Helmuth's book even though the FLT $0.05/0.10 game at pokerstars where I started is hardly the type of game that H4AP is intended for.

That beeing said I think there are some useful, interesting and as far as I know unique concepts in playing poker like the pros for total beginers. His idea to start up playing super-duper thight (basicly just premium hands) and then adding more and more hands as you get better is in my oppinion essentially correct for someone who has never played poker before. (I would however guess that this market segment is rather small, most people probably foolishly try on their own before turning to books to learn the game.)
