as far as his play, i dont mind his check/raise because if i have something like QJ here, hes likely winning the pot with it, but i dont think the cap will be profitable in the long run because it is a lot of bets to invest to take down a small pot and i almost always have an overpair or something here

Nice post. I do like a 3 bet with those middling diamond hands as you suggested, but hate it with a hand with showdown value for reasons you mentioned. I also didn't know it was you, as you mentioned.
