Default Re: sometimes the lightbulb goes off - some serious ownage at 100 200

Josh - your analysis is way off.

with the deuce paired, he's got way too many hands that can 3-bet you safely. any overpair, 88, 55, A8, A2s.

Of course, this is a relatively small portion of his range though, no?

so you're really only going to fold out K high and worse. and really you could've done the same thing on the flop. i know sometimes you need to switch it up and do it on the turn, but i think this is a pretty good blind defense flop, especially since people have somewhat decent standards from the hijack. you might disagree with this part. it's easy for the button to play back. when i get cr on this flop i start thinking gutter, oesd, diamonds, air. but he'll still go away quietly with the K and Q high.

[/ QUOTE ]

RE: opening standards from the hijack. We're talking 97s+, basically any ace, KTo+, Q9s+, etc. This is probably too tight - newsketch has a very broad opening range here. Check-raising the flop is the oldest play in the book. I do it sometimes, to mix it up, but it's seriously old. As far as Q high and K high going quietly into the night - you are probably folding way too much if you think so. This hand should probably be evidence of that.

back to the turn, i really hate your cap. since there is a wide range of hands he could be 3-betting, him having diamonds (which IMO, he shouldn't have here unless it's not the nut flush draw) becomes small in comparison. you're giving 9-2 on your cap. i just don't see him folding enough

He thinks I'm posturing, he can re-posture. It happens in high limit games. I don't recommend that random 2p2ers go out and start bluff-capping turns. Also note that I am getting 9-2 on my cap, and 1/10 times I make a straight that is almost definitely good. I don't expect people to like it, and it's not a play I make very often. It's a rare situation that comes up, but I take EV where I can get it.
