Agreed. I had an enjoyable, yet relatively short, HU session vs him.

He should have realized he was ahead on the flop and there's no excuse for not 3-betting you. If you had an ace or pocket pair you'd raise preflop, and if you hit two pair, you'd probably check-call the flop, hoping to raise the turn. It would be worth paying an extra bet to learn that much.

I'd be careful about looking for reasons to reraise weak holdings on drawless boards. I'd check Aces preflop plenty, and I c/r them on flops like these, too, because my opponent wont believe i have the A, and because I c/r lots of flops. If I hit 2pair i'm just as likely to c/r the flop as the turn. So, while 3betting definitely has appeal I think if he knew my play calling would be a better play b/c 3betting is going get pounded by better hands.
