Bush Investigates Online Gaming, Cheating . . .

I found this article:

ONLINE POKER NOT GAMBLING BUT PURCHASING
Joe Traintain
AP

Amidst reports of illegal online gambling in the United States, President Bush ordered a federal investigation, the results of which were published Tuesday. Included in the report were statistics proving several popular online gaming sites, specifically poker websites have a built in "house edge" to increase rake. Party Poker, Paradise Poker, Full Tilt Poker, Ultimate Bet Poker and Poker Stars were all named in the report. The basic idea is that the site makes certain hand combinations more prevalent than others to increase the fees paid to the site. In layman's terms the site will give two players very good cards to entice them to bet more because the more they bet the more the site makes. The sites were thought to be safe because of independent tracking software that monitors the cards but the sites easily fooled the software by balancing out the statistical anomalies on other tables with house(computer programs or employees) players. The FBI is in the process of contacting these companies and shutting them down within the next week. John Tector, an online player says, "I can't believe it, but it does make sense. I mean when I first went on the site I made lots of money but then I lost it all in a two week period."

I wouldn't be surprised if this fact was true. And no I'm not a moron who screams that online poker is rigged but you guys assume the people who run poker sites are moral and ethical angels. Money can corrupt people, look at Enron, Tyco, etc.
