99 UTG, capped PF 5 ways for huge pot.
This is the most interesting hand I played last night. I have no idea if any of my actions were correct.
Reads: Blinds both have VPIP's around 35% everyone to my left has VPIP's roughly 65-100%. Table was perfect. Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Preflop: Hero is UTG with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero raises, MP calls, CO calls, Button 3-bets, 1 fold, BB caps, Hero calls, MP calls, CO calls, Button calls. I raised trying to knock some people out. I have showed down strong hands when I raised this session and believed that by raising I could easily narrow the competition. I really think that cold calling the raise back was a mistake but based on the huge pot and pf activity, I felt like my implied odds if I hit a set were good enough to continue. Flop: (20.50 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players) BB checks, Hero checks, MP checks, CO checks, Button checks. I'm actually going for a check raise here to protect my hand. With the tighter opponants to my right I felt like I would almost certainly get a continuation bet. Since it is checked through I am planning to bet any nonscary turn. Turn: (10.25 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players) BB checks, Hero bets, MP calls, CO calls, Button calls, BB calls. I bet as planned. River: (15.25 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players) BB checks, Hero bets, MP raises, CO folds, Button folds, BB folds, Hero calls. So far I have not seen much to suggest that I am beaten so I bet out again for value. The raise sucks. With all the folds on the river I feel like calling the raise at the end was manditory due to the huge pot. I only need to win 6-7% of the time. The raise does suck though. Final Pot: 19.25 BB How does this look? Should I have folded PF? Are the other streets ok? Should I have folded the river raise? Greg |

I probably play it the same.

Re: 99 UTG, capped PF 4 ways for huge pot.
what a strange hand.
I might consider checking the river and calling if it's one coming back. But you may be right, and all the AKs that called your turn bet _could_ call the river bet too. |

nh, I dunno if the river bet is good or not but looks like you have the best hand.

Re: 99 UTG, capped PF 5 ways for huge pot.
Good hand. Preflop is good, 99 is very strong in 6 max. You have to call 2 pf getting 5:1 hoping to hit a set. You can't fold the river getting 18:1 you only have to be good 6%.

Looks good, I play it the same way. Since everyone is guessing a hand, I'll guess A2.
