$22S : 88 5 handed vs minraise help me out
 

Raiser has been very active since we got shorthanded. I'd like to hear some suggestions/discussion as to what poeple think is the best play here.

I had a similar hand today. I was with 7-8 BBs outta the blinds, Guy raised more than that and I pushed 88 knowing he'd call. My reasoning was like, if he directly went all in I'd call him anyway... Is this a leak??

Options :

1) fold. with 8 BB and here on the button next hand, this can't he a huge mistake. you will likely get a chance at a +EV push in the next three hands.

2) reraise all-in. this depends mostly on the opener's range. the minraise scares me a little, but he by no means will be calling the all-in everytime. but if he does, you are dominated, or maybe flipping w/ AK, but unlikely.

3) smooth call, stop-n-go. after calling, assuming BB folds, you have 3.7k left and the pot will be 3k. you could push first-in any flop since you're OOP. again, depends heavily on openers range.

I would definitely push based on your read on him. I wouldn't fear the minraise too much, some players try to steal cheaply when the blinds get huge. If he has been active, then there's still a reasonable chance he will fold, which would be what I would be hoping for. If not, you're probably racing.

I don't like a stopngo at all, because there's too much chance BB will call based on his stack size and pot odds. Stopngos don't work well against two opponents, especially with a dry side pot.

I agree with Ralphie here [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img].

The only worry is that with the BB small stacked, he will often come along, so you could be up against 3 or 4 overcards to your 8 if both call. However, I also think this is a push, since the ideal situation is a call from BB who could have unders as well, a fold from big stack, and a resulting 2:1 return of investment if you win.
