I got Scammed! Help me win the Credit Card game!
 

Beat: A couple of friends play World of Warcraft. Everyone has their own form of tilt control. Some people weight lift, some people drink, some do lines of blow off a hookers butt. I played WoW.

Beat: I paid $300 to buy virtual gold. We quit playing several months ago and stripped our accounts giving stuff to friends. We decided to play again a little bit but since our accounts were stripped we pooled some money togther to get ourselves up and running again.

Poker comparision as to how it should work: I pay you $300 on Full tilt and then you give me $300 on PS.

Problem: The company only delivered me about 70% of what I ordered and has made it very clear they are not going to make good on the rest of my order. No reason. They say its coming but they are clearly lying to me.

Method of payment: Paid with a credit card, using Paypal.

Goal: Find a way to cancel or stop my payment until my order is filled. Not trying to scam out something free, just what I'm owed.

Valuable Piece of Information: The game company does not allow the sale of gold. The company I bought the gold from has no way to get the game company to prove they delivered me anything. Its like robbing a drug dealer, or if a drug dealer sold you a big bag of oregano. Cant really go to the cops. If caught they would lose several accounts and more than what they're getting from me.

I've contacted my CC company and they say that would reverse the charge because it wasnt an error. I havent contact Paypal at all. Whats my play here? Can I contact Paypal and tell them the charge wasnt fraudulent and not made be me but someone on my computer with out my permission? Whos the burden of proof on? me to prove I didnt get something or them to prove I did? What sort of legl trouble would be risking here?

I do this on occasion. Don't even sell it. Just put little bags of catnip on tables in the library and watch peoples' shocked reactions. Oh, what fun. You should do this as a tilt reliever. Tilting others.

Standard procedure here is to involve Paypal first, then escalate to CC if Paypal doesn't come through. If you do it the other way around Paypal will freeze your account.

Paypal places the burden of proof on the seller, and since they can not prove that they delivered virtual gold, the transaction will be reversed. And no one is going to sue you over $300 in virtual gold.

Maybe you deserve to get scammed for trying to cheat at this game. Also, if you aren't allowed to sell WoW gold, why don't they just disable person to person xfer or however you xfer gold?

Idiots still have to be able to trade and buy [censored] in-game with worthless in-game moneys.

Better poker analogy: You buy into a $300 rebuy tourney, immediately rebuy, and try to buy a phone or something with tournament chips. The poker room laughs at you, everyone around laughs at you, and you are utterly screwed.
