Neither opponent is drawing dead, they can both theoretically draw 2 cards to beat you.

If you were in your opponent's shoes... wouldn't you be happy if the guy showing 472 checked and you got to see 6th with your A23? Based on the calls on 4th I would not be surprised if at least one of them called you on 5th either.

3rd st is a bet, too, I think.

if one of your opponents can catch a card on sixth which gives them a chance to outdraw you on seventh AND if they will have correct odds for calling a bet on sixth with thier draw, then checking fifth is a mistake i think; since this is a worse scenario than betting and simply winning the pot on fifth. But since i suck at razz ( and poker in general) i might be completely wrong.

Can one of the pros confirm my statement?

Not a pro, but that works for me.

I think limping is your worst option on third. There are four strong low cards yet to act, all of which happen to be cards you need. I'm guessing that raising isn't going to buy the antes very often, and that very few hands end without a showdown. You have a stinky Eight in the hole. I think third is a fold.

Bet fifth. If they're bad enough to call fourth, maybe they're bad enough to call fifth. Only one way to find out. And it's not like an 87 is unbeatable.

Yeah it sucks that 4 wheel cards are out but I have a hard time folding 84A. I've got folding the 87s and 86s down but not 84A. The outcome from limping 3rd was surprisingly good, in the sense that everyone bricked except you. Now it's time to gogogo.

Again, winning poker isn't about good hands--it's about good situations. Third just isn't a good situation, and a three-card Eight isn't a great hand to begin with.

And what are the odds that hero will catch good while three other players catch bad? I don't feel like doing the calculation, but it's pretty long.

Well, I do agree that calling is the worst option. I think completing is better than folding but I do think it's pretty close.
