15/30 stud hand--3rd street!?!?
Do I just fold here?
A deuce brings it in. Action is folded to me. I have (3J)T. The two guys behind me have have jacks. I complete. Next guy reraises. Bring-in cold calls. I . . .? Michael |

You've gotta take a flop here.. Just kidding, easy fold.. Never been caught with your hand in the cookie jar? |
Re: 15/30 stud hand--3rd street!?!?
I almost never steal in the 10/20, but I'm trying to incorporate it a bit more in the 15 game.

Re: 15/30 stud hand--3rd street!?!?
I generally try not to steal very often with higher cards left to act, but I think since you know they are deadish it wasn't too bad.
I think you have to fold though. Not only do you have nothing, the nothing you have is dead. The only reason I can think of not to is for image reasons, but I wouldn't waste a bet even then. |
Re: 15/30 stud hand--3rd street!?!?
Actually I think is a pretty easy steal with dupicated upcards and knowledge a third jack is dead. It's definitely likely to work...def steal in 15+ for me. Exception would be player knowledge - ie that they are extremely loose on 3rd. But steal against typical players.

But you agree he should fold once its reraised back to him, right? |
Re: 15/30 stud hand--3rd street!?!?
Yes. Missed that - thought the question was just on the initial steal.

Re: 15/30 stud hand--3rd street!?!?
1. Should you complete in that spot? Yes, easy completion, but with the caveat that Jeff mentioned (which is especially important in extreme cases).
2. What should you do after you complete and get raised? Duh. Easy fold, you have nothing, what's there to think about. The only legitimate question is the first one. And now you have your answer. |
Re: 15/30 stud hand--3rd street!?!?
I probably wouldn't have stolen in this situation unless the table was extremely tight. I almost never get tables like that on the 5-10, which is what I mostly play. At 15-30 I'm sure you get tighter tables but the table has to be really tight for this to work.. If you have a little something more you should steal here though

Re: 15/30 stud hand--3rd street!?!?
Not only are the games usually tighter, but the ante is proportionally higher, making stealing more worthwhile. I think that if you never tried to steal at $5/10, you wouldn't be giving up much.
While this was a reasonable spot to try a steal, I might have let it pass. Definitely fold to the raise, though. |
