What Happens When Someone Dies

Serious question. It occurred to me what happens when someone with money in an online gaming acct dies. Say they have a lot. Like Grimmstar is hit by a bus.

What if his family doesn't have his password? Or they do but Stars investigates the full withdrawl and learns he is dead and it's not him withdrawing. Can they keep it?

This has to have come up right.

I know that FT and Stars be trying to take my monies basically. But after I die in some kind of huge explosion, I want my family to have it. For the memorial fund.

I don’t know for sure, but I suspect that most poker sites would release the funds on receiving proper documentation from the executor of the account-holder’s estate.

They would probably need notarized copies of the death certificate and probate documents.

half the time I can't even get my money out of some of these places... and I think I will be dead before some of these checks show up. If I'm dead, GL... stress from trying to cash out on bodog and keep my epassporte account open probably killed me anyway.

They go to heaven or hell. Unless they haven't been baptized. Then they go to purgatory. But wait, I think the Pope banished purgatory. So now everybody has a choice.

Assume half the dead money never gets retrieved. Chance of dying on a given day about 1/20000. Assume site has 1,000,000 players (?). Assume average bankroll is $100. Site makes $2500/day conservatively. Could easily be an order of magnitude greater: $25,000/day.
