NL25 - Pocket tens on jack high flop

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

BB ($27.30)
UTG ($16.60)
Hero ($39.80)
MP1 ($17.65)
MP2 ($21.20)
MP3 ($10.75)
CO ($26.10)
Button ($34.15)
SB ($26.20)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises to $0.75</font>, Hero calls $0.75, <font color="#666666">7 folds</font>.

Flop: ($1.85) 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG bets $1</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $3</font>, UTG calls $2.

Turn: ($7.85) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG bets $1</font>, Hero does what?
-----------------------------------------

Final Pot: $7.85

Villain 22/11/2 over ~ 40 hands

I am 15/7/2.4

I suspect he has JQ/ JK but I suppose 88-99 or maybe an OESD could be in his range. 78 suited could be within his raising range pre flop but I doubt it.

What should I do on the turn? And the river? How was my flop bet? If I was on the button preflop and assuming no-one else called his preflop bet should I have re-raised?

Cheers.

I wouldn't raise the flop

Don't you consider AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AJ to be possible holdings? If not, why not? I would probably reluctantly call the $1 bet. Some players try to bluff cheaply. If UTG subsequently bets $2 or more on the river, I would then fold. But at this point the pot is simply too large to fold to a $1 bet.

Why did you raise on the flop? And why did you do so by making it $2 to call a $5.85 pot for UTG? If you are going to raise, make it incorrect for any open ender to call. I think a raise to $4 would be much better.

* grunch *

Raise pre-flop, not on the flop. You want to find out early if your behind to a bigger pair, while the bets are still cheap.

As played, a rule I try to adhere to is to not call a turn bet unless I'm also willing to call a reasonable bet on the river. However with UTG's stack size, and thanks to your raise on the flop, a "reasonable" river bet by UTG might be $11.00 all-in.

Unless UTG is known to bet aggressivly from OOP with AK, then I think the turn is a clear fold.

I folded the turn.

In retrospect I should probably have just called the flop bet.
