Need some guidance
 

I've recently started to play online poker, and I need some guidance since I'm just losing money left and right (and if I'm not losing money I'm just barely breaking even.)

I've gotten poker tracker, and game time. Read though SSHE several times, read though a bunch of other poker books too. Recently picked up Winning in Tough Hold'em Games and working on understanding and comprehending everything that's in there.

I'm mainly palying
0.02/0.04 (10 players)
0.05/0.10 (10 players)

and every now and then I touch 0.25/0.50

It would be great if someone is able to mentor me for a bit until I get the hang of things as I'm not really sure what to do anymore.

(I think I'm playing a bit too loose since my V$IP is kind of high).

Also what other books would you recommend for nano?

WITHG is not a great book to be focusing on if you're playing at the nanos and are having difficulties with fundamentals. I'd shelve it for, like, a year from now.

Session Reviews are the best way to go.

My advice is to find the aim list and have someone sweat a session. I realize this is weak, but worth a shot. Sounds like you really need to be talked through a hand or two.

Also, perhaps, try writing out all the quiz questions in a given chapter SSHE in say Notepad, and print out the quiz and take it, checking your answers after you are done. i.e. in the text, the answers are listed just after each question, which is not conducive to learning. If you fail, reread a chapter then take the quiz again.

Finally, if you are still having issues, I suggest trying your hand at this hobby instead (NSFW)

welcome to the forums.

I only took a quick look at the stats but your VPIP 44% and that is WAY WAY WAY too high for full ring games. You need to get a starting hand chart. A starting hand chart will get you down to sub 20%.

if you want to get better at poker then stick around 2+2. oh and as Wookie says "winning in tough holdem games" is notthe book you want. Consider Getting Started in Holdem or Small STakes holdem

Seriously dude, if you have read those books, you need to re-read them and try and retain some of the information in your brain. Then you need to apply some of it when you are playing poker. Your sample size is waaay too small, but your numbers are fuked up. You are seeing WAAAY too many flops and your showdown numbers are wack. You are calling down too much. Don't think you can be a winning player until you can fold a pair or AK unimproved. You seriously need to learn how to fold.

Your agression factor is also pretty high for vpip 44. Not only are you calling with worse hands, you are betting and raising your worse hands?

[edit]um, maybe add som content too. get you vpip to 15 your pfr to 7.5 and and remember that valutebetting your good hands is >>>>>>>> bluffing bad players [/edit]

Session reviews will help enormously. no point reading SSHE several times if you're not actually thinking about your next moves, planning ahead and reading your opponents better.

once you've done that maybe try start on .15/.30 where you're a little less likely to be drawn out on all the time. some might disagree but if i can win every session by some margin at this level then anyone can (that's probably not a bold statement for partypoker! lol!!)

I'm gonna ask a few more questions in this thread instead of making a new thread.

1. I'm looking at URL DELETED (ed miller's preflop hand chart that OhGeeTee remade) what does C4, C3 mean? and the x under the BB column is suppose to mean?

2. I also think I'm having trouble applying/understanding odds when I'm at the table. Pre-Flop I count the number of players in and everything but post-flop I lose track. Is there any book/online articles that shows the thinking process behind this

1.C3 = Call if 3 or more have entered the pot, fold otherwise. x = check.

2. Read SSHE. Then read it again. Proceed until understanding sets in. It's all in there, and you won't find anywhere that explains it more clearly.
