Best Books For A Beginner With Aspirations?
 

So I've really been putting some thought into my game over the last month.
I've been playing at NL10 after a spate of terrible play at NL25. I wasn't even rolled for NL10 so that didn't help but in honesty it wouldnt have mattered, I was playing losing poker.
After some serious hand reviewing I dropped to NL10 with a $50 BR and gave it my best shot. The way I'm going once I reach 10K hands I'll be rolled to take a shot again but I want to really up my game first.

Can you recommend some goods books?

I think Theory Of Poker is a must and the same for PNL, I also want to work on my SnG/MTT game.
I was planning on spending £100 (~$200), which others have really helped you?

If you don't already have it, Small-Stakes Hold'em.

Harrington on Hold'em II would probably be good here, especially when it comes to SNGs.

For tournament play, Harrington on Hold'em, vol 1 and 2. Vol 3 if you want, it's workbook on the stuff in vol 1 and 2.

Theory of Poker is good, I just finished it. I plan on getting the Psychology of Poker next, assuming my wife lets me buy another poker book.

TOP, PNL, NLT&P, and a lot of the canonical texts are written with a relatively high level of play in mind. It's not exactly irrelevant for micro stakes no-limit, but definitely to be taken with a grain of salt.

Small Stakes Holdem isn't even about no-limit, but I thought it was an excellent guide for loose small-stakes games. No matter what you read, you'll have to adapt the concepts to the game you're playing. SSHE is at least as good a guide as the NL texts, if you'll be playing micros.

HOH is also thoroughly excellent (with the non-micro caveat again).

Finally, do a 2+2 search for everything Pokey has written. That's by far the best info I've seen for a micro no-limit player. Really, the uNL forum is unmatched by the print options, imo.

All the chapters from the books that discuss ABC poker are also relevent for the microstakes.

Gedanken you're right some of the Pooh-Bah type posts I've read on here are brilliant and have given me plenty of food for thought.
Raze, nice post, thats another one for my favourites.

So I've settled on:

Small Stakes HoldEm
Theory of Poker
No Limit HoldEm Theory and Practice
Professional No Limit Vol 1
Harrington on HoldEm Vol & 2

I was also thinking of getting Your Worst Poker Enemy and The Psychology of Poker by Alan N. Schoonmaker. It sounds like these might deal with some of my personal stumbling blocks, Has anyone read them? Are they any good?
