QJs reraised by short stack

Live $3K MTT, blinds 1500/3000/300, average stack 83K, and I start with 51.5K. I raise in 3rd position to 9K with QJs. Short stack on the button pushes for another 28K. I am getting 1.85-1 pot odds. If I lose, I have 14.5K; if I fold, 42.5K, and if I call and win 94.5K. Haven't been at table that long, but villain is middle aged, appears to be solid but not a nit, and not a strong player, but not obviously bad. Call or fold.

I would rarely open fold QJs with 5 players to act in a live tournament with ante. Sometimes I make a smaller raise or limp. I set the raise size to look strong, but have an easy fold to a reraise from someone who covers me. Do you mean fold to the reraise?

yea i meant open fold, but raising is fine too i guess. i would lay it down after the reraise though.

I would open push if I were to play this hand.

I would play this hand if I felt the table dynamics were
favorable.

Getting what you are getting + he is not super-desperate yet, I think your EV ranges from slightly - to breakeven with the call.

You probably have already done the Stove work, but thats what it basically comes down to. Unless he is shoving super-wide, then it becomes slightly positive.

But I don't think we see a range like any pair, medium Aces up, and a few big suited broadway hands (KQo or KJs) often enough in this spot in a live tourney.

Open-pushing is awful

Raise/fold is fine here, but less than 3X BB is preferable and maybe just open-fold if your table isnt a typical nitty ass live table

it's close... i'd probably let other factors about the table influence my decision

Agreed, and I think it's a marginally -EV call as described.

I think folding is completely out of the question once we raise. Even random old dudes aren't folding 77 here I don't think.
