Texas Hold\'em HI/LO

One of the local games I frequent has decided to start a round-n-round of Omaha Hi/Lo and Texas Hold'em Hi/Lo. Any input is appreciated as far as starting hands or game concepts on the Texas Hold'em Hi/Lo.

Thanx

Is there a qualifier for the low? How does the game work.

Ive always wondered why ive never heard of texas holdem high low as i dont see any reason why it wouldnt be played, maybe lows are too easy to make? Infact what if there is a low on the board, then the player with say top set would be well pissed off. Hard one.

I would imagine it isn't played because it would be extremely hard to scoop a pot. You would usually need a straight or a flush to have two live cards to qualify for a low and even then your low hand might not be best.

Why would he be pissed off. He'd take the high pot and split the low pot?

I've played this in a home game before and we played it w/o a qualifier. There was a ton of action but my game was full of rich idiots.

OK, here's how the game was played:
everyone received two cards down then a round of betting,
three cards up on the green felt for everyone to enjoy and a round of betting,
turn card and a round of betting,
then everyone left is dealt a card down followed with a round of betting.
You can use one, two or all three cards in your hand!

At $10-20, there were some nice pots to be had(or not!)
I think after one more night I should have a pretty good feel for the game.

I hope you took advantage of the fact that putting an extra card into your hand (through whatever means) was allowed!
