wa/wb concept
 

Does anybody know of a place I can learn more about the wa/wb concept, some articles and example hands preferably. I did google and forum searches but wasnt able to find much. I think I tend to think that I am in a situation involving wa/wb a lot and I think I misplay it often.

From what I recall, there's a good discussion in the book Winning in Tough Hold'em Games. [Edit: this is a limit HE book.]

Usually you should just play passively. Just check and call. Give an aggressive opponent a chance to bluff, but don't give him a chance to raise, forcing you to fold what could be the best hand.

A common situation is when you defend your big blind heads-up against a steal with Ax and an A flops. If you have the best hand, you're way ahead, but if your opponent has a better kicker, you're way behind.

If you bet or raise, your opponent will probably fold if he doesn't have an A, so you didn't get much value from your hand. If he does have a big A and reraises, it costs you an extra bet. So in this case it's often best to play passively, just checking and calling every street because it costs you least when you're behind and gets extra value if you're ahead.
