Am I really a LAG?
I use Poker Tracker, and I'm still relatively new at online poker. After a few expensive forays over the last year, I finally figured out br management (when I learned, I'd play 1/2 NL, 5/10 limit, etc., 'cause that's what I played live...lol....not even close to the same games!). Also, I'd put $500 from my checking online, then sit at $1/2 NL and wonder why I'd be broke in two or three days. Anyway, I finally just put $100 online, started at .5/.10 NL, and now I'm playing 50NL with over $1000 in my br (playing for less than 3 weeks like that). I have 2600 hands at 25NL, and for the first time I asked PT to rate me as well. Now let me say that my bb/100 is currently 17.43 (and even 40.67 over 834 hands at 100NL....I took a shot and I'm back at NL50 after some wild swings). Anyway, PT ranked me as Loose aggressive/aggressive. My numbers:
31.5/16.37/4.72. Now some more explanation: this is SOLELY 6-Max, and often times the game breaks or two sit out and I'm playing against 1, 2 or 3 only. Anyway, I'm successful (for now), and it's not a full ring. So, am I truly a LAG, or am I a wanna-be TAG who needs to plug some leaks? PT gave me the Tasmanian Devil. Advise please. |

Re: Am I really a LAG?
OK, first, I'm not sure how many hands you have total by your post, but the 2,600 at 25NL is nothing at all. It's like flipping a coin five times and evaluating your winrate from that.
Your 17+ winrate is insane, even for 25NL, and that is a strong indicator you've run very hot in a short span of hands (even at those limits). Next, your numbers are clearly very LAG, but they're almost certainly unprofitable for most players, particularly at those low limits. Even those that can manage VPIP > 30% successfully there would probably have greater success with a tighter game. Also your PFR is about half your VPIP, and that's usually a sign of common mistakes like open-limping or calling too many hands from the blinds. If you were 20/16 instead it would make quite a bit more sense. |
Re: Am I really a LAG?
If you play in lots of six max and shorter handed games it should give you a loose rating. As others have said, you are probably much looser than you should be. But the default ranking criteria Poker Tracker uses for these rankings is for full ring games.

Re: Am I really a LAG?
I play about 25/18/3 at NL25 and NL50 6-max and consider that a LAG to semi-LAG style.
That said, the icon assignment criteria in PT are more designed for full-ring limit, I think, so they aren't very useful for 6-max NL. |
Re: Am I really a LAG?
here are some autorate rules for 6max: http://www.bet-the-pot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4082
beware tho, people rated as good players are really fishy 50/3 or like 90/5 players |
Re: Am I really a LAG?
Thanks guys.....I've been playing pretty well, but also admit that I've hit some good luck. This will help me tighten up my game.

Re: Am I really a LAG?
Small sample size, I know, but I just 2-tabled at 50NL and brought my VPIP down to ~18 (6 max) and I stood up with winnings over 3 buy-ins. Totally sustainable!!! (lol)
