This is semi-inspired by private joker's thread about the donk on his airplane trip.

I love it when people who have no idea about professional/serious gambling attempt to have a conversation with me about it when they just say such inane things. Crap like "zomg gambling is risky lol" or "you can't lose what you don't put in the middle."

I think my most hated is "but how much did you lose?" lol or "so I heard you played poker today? So-and-so told me you had a bad day?"

Then I'll respond with something like "oh, I dropped about 5 buyins today in some coolers and some questionable plays by myself, so around $1000. But in anycase I'm not worried about it because it was a small sample size and I think my table selection skills are impr-"

"OMG 1000 bucks!!!!!1! Dude that's alot of money! You sure you don't have a gambling problem?"

me: ".....uh-mazing."

BBV, what phrases/questions which average joejanedonks use tilt you the most? These people can be close friends, your wife, or total strangers. Doesn't matter. Trip reports would be nice too. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Whoa you tell people about losing $1000? I tell people when I have really small winning or losing days, like $200, they still freak out

Honestly I rarely do. I usually avoid the topic (even on huge winning days) but some people know what I do and pry. In any case it's annoying but it's interesting viewing people's behavior on the concept of betting "a lot of money".

The thing is I shared those views of money myself a long time ago.

This thread has happened like 230232820 times before, but the people asking me if they can give me 20 and hand them 100 a week later are annoying. And I'm not close to making any kind of serious money either. I only made like $200 last month.

I get that one too..."But, how much did you lose?"...then I explain, the winnings take the losses into account.
Once I was explaining how much "time" or rake we pay at the casino. I was up about $2000 for the month after 110 hours...at 12 bucks an hour I said I had paid over $1200 in time...my buddy said.."so your only up 800 then, huh."
