I want to play a SHORT game
 

It seems that nowadays every game is a minimum of 50 or 60 hours of playtime. I don't have the desire to spend that much time playing a game. Can anybody suggest any recent games which I can basically beat over a weekend?

Katamari Damacy, puzzle games, a GBA Castlevania game, NBA JAM (boomshakalaka!), a platformer like SNES Kirby, or most arcade games.

Sports games. You can play a game on easy level and win a season championship.

For what system? Gears of War and Prey are ~10 hour long FPS games.

If you're into fighting games like Tekken or DOA those are great for a weekend, you can usually beat the game with a few characters or whatever.

quake 4 took me only a short stretch to beat.

Half-life 2 was pretty short but they are going to release a bunch of short "episodes" that'll only be like 10 hrs. Considering it's the greatest FPS (imo) this is probably a fine fit for you.

God of War was incredible, and that reminds me I need to get the damn sequel too!

Most of these suggestions are solid, though I have played and beaten most of these games by now :-X

The Max Payne games are pretty straight forward and relatively short FPSs. However they're old enough that if you wanted to play them you probably already have.
