whats the ruling?
 

5/10nl game in local club. action is normal untill the turn when the dealer burns and turns the river without the button having any action. is it normal procedure to re-insert both the river card and the burn card back into the pack and re-shuffle? then re-burn and deal the river?

thanks for any help and sorry if this has been covered before. (already looked at "Robert's" rules, but obviously anwsers may be different)

Usually they keep the same burn, but it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, I am a fan of the ruling in this case being 'whatever keeps the fish (defined as anyone who thinks it matters) happy.'

Take the river card back, complete the action on the turn betting round, reshuffle the card in with the stub and re-deal the river without burning a card. This is the ruling at Crown in Melbourne, Australia.

In poker it's important to keep the cards in sequence as best as one can. Given the fact that the third burn card sticking out from underneath the pot is "in sequence", it should stay there.

Rules regarding prematurely exposed board cards can vary quite a bit from cardroom to cardroom though.

If you feel it's important to keep the proper sequence, you should change your outlook as soon as possible. You're only setting yourself up for annoyance, which will not help your game.
