live 2-5 hand

thinking TAG player who is winning about 1300 in the game in his first two hours of play opens in EMP for 35. Sb calls and I call in the bb w/ 44. I have about 1300 and he covers.
flop: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
sb checks, I bet 55. PFR quickly makes it 175. I make it 450.
can he ever continue with an overpair here? spew?
thanks
V

Yes, he can continue with an overpair, because 3bets on boards like this are very often bluffs.
Against a weak-tight player it's fine, but against a good TAG it's very spewy.

Stacks are definitely deep enough that he should fold most overpairs. In the right conditions this is a nice little treat.

i don't like it, b/c you can only have 33 or A8 here really, and with the inclusion of spades potentially in your range, I think you could get looked up here...and this is a pretty bluffy line, so you will get looked up here a decent chunk of the time...probably more than you expect

Hero's range should be much wider considering he cold called after SB also did and how deep we're playing. He could be doing this with 86, 87, 89, 8T, in addition to A8 or 33.

And I don't really consider this a bluffy line compared to a checkraise which gets looked up MUCH more often.
