Is HOH helpful ?

How helpful is reading HOH v1 and 2 for a regular SNG player ?
Do you think it can rly improve his game ?

Depends where you are in your sng development. They were very helpful to me when I was playing sngs and read them. But, that was before I found 2p2 and SNGPT. It took 2p2 to help me see the results I wanted.

However, HOH gives some bad advice on sngs. What I took from them was the idea of 'first in vigorous'. It took SNGPT for me to figure out the appropriate application of this though.

It has some nice walkthroughs of analytical decision making if I remember correctly.

I didn't agree with a lot of the "answers" to the "problems," though I could just be bad.

Re: Is HOH helpful ?

HOH underestimates the equity gained in SNGs from having villains clash against each other and knocking each other out.

thus, it does not advocate a sufficiently tight style of play early on.
