Ruling

I was playing on the road this week, when this situation arose in Chicago:

I am "supposed" to be on the button. The dealer forgets to move the button after the last hand. I am fooling around with my cell phone, so I don't notice that the button has not moved. I do not post the SB, but the BB has gone ahead and posted for the second consecutive hand. When the action is at the hi-jack, I look up and announce that the button is wrong. There have already been two limpers and a raise. What happens? Do I have to post? What about the BB's money?

Re: Ruling

Once substantial action has taken place, there isn't much that can be done. It would have to be noticed and brought to the dealer's attention before any betting action takes place.

...that the dealer is pitching the first card to you. This is your opportunity to correct the mistake, and you squandered it.

Yes, you have to put your small blind in again (you took the hand! What else can we do, give you a pass because you don't like your cards?), and the hand plays out.

There is already significant action with two limpers and a raise, so the hand will have to play out. You could have saved the day, and yourself the small blind fee, had you spoken up sooner. But life's a bee-otch, then you die. Pay up and then if there's any further problem stop by and I'll kick you in the nuts. :-)

Re: Ruling

The correct answer is the throw a hissy fit when the floor comes and says you have to put in your small blind. Roll around on the floor and stomp your feet. Hold your breath until you turn blue. Insist since you already did it, forcing you to do it again is tantamount to stealing and explain that Gaming won't see this as an error the player should be responsible for. Ask for the floor's manager and the casino manager. Pull out your cell phone and ask for Gaming's number immediately.

You have at least a 50:50 chance of getting the floor to pull $1 out of his pocket or out of the tray to pay the SB and then kill your hand. You have about a 48:50 chance of getting the floor to just tell the table they'll be playing this hand without a small blind. And about a 2:100 chance of being shown the door. So 98 times out of 100 you can be proud of your accomplishment in having saved $1 and come tell us here how you beat The Man. The other 2 times you can come here and tell us how you got thrown out of the poker room.

(ok... So I'm in an odd mood lately.)

Do you have to be playing on the road or is this a situation that would never happen at the Argosy?
