How did Joe Hachem do it?
Having just finished watching the WSOP main event ESPN series, I'm seriously asking this question about Joe Hachem's style and what we can learn about it.
I've been reading numerous articles on how being aggressive is better, caution aggressive styles (negreanu). And then I look at Joe Hachem's style. He seemed to be extremely patient, waiting for premium hands and just playing them well. His instinct in avoiding busts is quite uncanny (the trip 9's hand by Dannemann in their very funny verbal exchange is one example). So what is Hachem's style that got him the largest cash prize in poker history? |

I think that understanding how the top players play can really help our games. However, this is like asking how someone who buys one powerball ticket can win hundreds of millions when another person buys 20 and doesn't "cash".

i believe he stayed at a holiday inn express [/ QUOTE ] rofl Anyone who has a basic understanding of tournament poker and get's extremely lucky in all the right spots has just as good a chance as he did...wasn't like he did anything groundbreaking to give him some great edge. Pushing with Q-7 all in against a guy who can't fold anything was brilliant though, I must say.... |

Fosters. Lots and lots of Fosters. [/ QUOTE ] No Australian actually drinks Fosters. It's really bad beer, there's far better down here (although, compared to the big American beers, Fosters is nectar of the Gods.) |
