TPNK in the BB

WPX $3/$6, 5 handed

- UTG+1 is at least a little laggy over a couple sessions

You have to be ahead here about 40% of the time to continue. As for what to if you decide to play....i think a case can be made for not raising.

I think I like your play, but not sure about the flop. If this villain is raising for a free card, which appears to be the case then it isnt a bad idea to 3-bet it and shut out the other player while preventing the free card play. I feel like villains range includes a lot more connector-spade hands than Ax when he cold calls preflop.

But I feel like I would have trouble 3-betting here every time. so I guess I probably take the same line as you a lot, but I'feel like I ought to be three-betting against this kind of villain.

I fold the flop like 100% of the time.

river I like a raise more than a call.

I jettison my cards on the flop here. You are probably drawing to 3 outs, plus utg+1 may 3-bet. One thing you have to do with these small aces is be able to throw them away even when you flop good.

Tough spot.

I think folding the flop is definitely a strong option (the combination of being way behind/getting outdrawn makes this hand tough).

If you are going to play it....I'd be intending to CR preflop raiser, but since BTN raised, calling is OK. However, I'd lead a non-spade turn (in this case, that Q should definitely freeze players...if you get raised, I think you can safely fold). Again, though....I'm probably folding the flop most of the time.

against 95% of wpx 3/6 opponents I raise the flop here and go from there. If the button is lag hes going to be 3betting all his decent aces preflop and I cant imagine him coldcalling with A8. I find these hands play pretty easy for me when I 3 bet the flop and fold to a turn/river raise. Just assume everyone on WPX is FOS until given a good reason to believe otherwise.
