Pre Flop Question

UTG + 1 was on the TAG side, CO and Button were both fishy.

I generally fold ATS in the SB in a raised pot, but with 2 fish in the hand I would probably call. On the flip side, the UTG +1 raiser almost certainly had a hand and it could easily dominate me.

Any thoughts?

What should I do if I had no reads at all?

my default is calling. i don't think the default of folding is correct at all.

Re: Pre Flop Question

Generally I will coldcall this on the button with at least two CC's ahead, padding the pot (folding if 0-1 callers are in).

In the SB, calling for 1.5 bets is comparable.

AJs is an easy call, ATo and A9s are easy folds if UTG+1 has TAG preflop standards

You could easily be right.

I call with AJs and fold with ATs but not for any reason other than a starting hand chart I used as a guideline when I was a beginner. I don't have enough of a sample in my playing to know the answer.

Re: Pre Flop Question

My default is to fold (but I play AJs and add a couple callers and just about any Axs is good).

Since the coldcallers are bad this might push it +EV for me but I'm thinking it's still fairly close.

There are a good number of players who think they are good enough (and quite possibly they are!) to play quite a few hands in this situation like KTs, AJo, 67s but really I don't see a lot of value in it if you are not very good postflop.

Re: Pre Flop Question

Randomly assigning UTG1 a top 15% hand and the two callers 30% and 40% hands respectively poker stove gives you about a 27% chance of winning here (not considering bib=g blind's hand). You are calling 1.5SBs against a pot size of 7.5 SBs with a small risk that BB will reraise.(do we have a read on big blind?)

Looks like a good pot could develop and your hand has big pot potential to nut flush or top straight. I think I call this and not raise it, because UTG1 may well have us dominated for high card value but if we hit our potential here we want everybody in (how sweet it is!!) and if we miss we are probably getting away on the flop anyway.

With no reads? Probably about the same I think.

at that limit if you play a .10 small blind, then I think it's a fold. I might call in a 1/2 blind structure if BB is known to be somewhat loose.
