What is the appropriate amount of action here?

Notes on villian:

-Pre-flop raised AKo and checked it all the way down heads up when he missed on a board of [5h 8h 3d Qc] [8c] - strange
-Raised an early position raiser with JQo
-Can be very spewy post-flop - raised K7s pre-flop and capped [7c 2d 8d] board - seen him spew many times
-Called two bets cold from an UTG raiser with freaking TJo

B/CD if raised and UI

Bet/call turn, check/call river. If he calls the turn, bet/call river UI.

I bet/3bet and call down UI if he caps. given your read I would expect him to raise your turn lead with an overpair or TPTK, but after he caps I start to get worried about 66/A6.

Alright, we have a couple of you going for a more passive line, and yourface going for bet/3-bet, which is what I did. It was primarily based on my read of him as a spewmaster. He capped me, and I called the river. I guess I was looking for SOMEONE to say that a bet/3-bet is okay. I really couldn't put him on a six here. Of course, he had J6s, but I didn't feel that it was something that I really needed to worry about. For some reason, my sets have been getting demolished by four-straights this month.

given your description
of this particular player
id like to get in four bets

c/r turn, call a 3bet, c/c river UI
if he calls our c/r on the turn
i think we can get another c/r
on the river UI but if we do improve
however wed get to the river (board pairs)
id b/3bet instead of trying for a c/r

Re: What is the appropriate amount of action here?

I dunno, if he's raising J6s preflop in that spot I am probably wrong. we need to be ahead 2/3 of the time to 3bet I believe since we are going to be capped by the straight only. based on your read I think his raising range is [tptk, 6, overpair]

edit: does the 2/3 rule apply when we have such good equity versus the straight? I think we can get away with being behind more often.

ahead of:
99*6, TT*6, JJ*6, QQ*6, KK*6, AA*6, A8*12 = 48

behind:
J6s*4, Q6s*4, K6s*4, A6*16, 66*6 = 34

so we are ahead 58% of the time, which isn't enough

if the only 6s he can have are 66 and A6 it is dead on 66.66%, but that is assuming he always raises with TPTK and overpair on such a scray board.
