WSOP: What does \"World Championship\" mean?

I notice that several of the events are listed as "World Championship" while others are not.

What does this mean, and all events "bracelet" tourneys?

Thanks!

Yes, all award a bracelet. But only one in each category is (in addition) a World Championship Event.

In NL it's of course the main event. In all other games (HORSE, Omaha, Limit etc.) it's the event with the highest Buy-In. Only the winner of these events can call himself a "World Champion in XXX".

IIRC, the championship event is the one with the largest buy-in for the particular discipline of poker. So 3 for Hold'em PL, NL and FL not sure whether the 6-handed tables and shoot-outs count as championship events though.

Ah, I see. Makes sense.

Didn't want to spend $2k to buy in, go on to win my event, and not have a bracelet. LOL

It's a pretty cool idea they have, and is inline with moving to turn it into more then just the World Series of Holdem.

It practically is the World Series of Holdem
