Stud/8 hand vs Men Ngyuen
Played this hand early on in a $1k HORSE tournament vs. Men. Starting stacks were T5000. Antes were T25 with a 50 BI and 100/200 limits, so this was pretty early on. Men had been playing all of the games pretty well (IMHO), but was probably a little looser than I had expected---our table was stone cold stupid, so I figure he was looking to play pots with folks. I had been playing supertight (more a funciton of my crap cards) and had not shown down a single hand, while playing maybe 4 pots in the 2.5 hours of the tourney.
A trey brings it in, I limp with (Ah 6h)3x, men limps with a Jack and everyone else folds. I believe the other upcards were 8, 8, 4, K, T. 4th st BI-(xx)3x Qx ME-(Ah 6h)3x 7x MEN-(xx) Jx 4x BI checks, I bet, Men calls and BI folds. 5th St: ME-(Ah 6h)3x 7x 3x MEN-(xx) Jx 4x Ax I bet, Men calls. 6th St: ME-(Ah 6h)3x 7x 3x Qx MEN-(xx) Jx 4x Ax 8x I check, Men bets, I call. 7th St: ME-(Ah 6h)3x 7x 3x Qx (7x) MEN-(xx) Jx 4x Ax 8x (x) I check, Men bets, I barf and then call. 1. Standard? 2. What does Men show? Michael |

Re: Stud/8 hand vs Men Ngyuen
First of all 3rd is an easy raise. I will never understand why people limp there.
Second suits are very relevant in this hand because Men's most likely 3rd street holding is a 3 flush, probably with two low cards but not necessarily. 6th is a check. He either has a made low or a better high than you, unless he is on a 4 flush now which is still not good for you. 7th is an easy easy call with two pair. He can easily have a low. He can also have a flush (depending on suits), a bigger 2 pair, or even one pair if he is a strong player. (You should not have checked 2 pair here so he should be value betting one pair.) |

Yeah, raise third. I think you played the rest of it right. Men probably "should" have started with a three-flush with two babies, but maybe he showed you Jacks-up.
