please tell me if you would have called

three people left in tourney. 1st pays 2400, 2nd 1200 and 3rd 500. you have 55,000 chips and the others have 24,000 and 35,000. you are the big blind and it is 4000/8000. the button goes in for his last 24,000 and the small blind folds. the pot is 36,000 and it is 16,000 for you to call. you look down at A, 3 offsuit. do you call? you have also seen him go all in before with not that great of a hand. thanks.

This is a super easy call. I might call without looking at my hand.

thanks. i wonder if you would have said the same had i not told you he had gone all in before with a marginal hand. plus when he did he only had 15,000 instead of 24,000. i did call and he flipped over Q, J and won with a J on the flop. thanks for the response.

So you called with the best hand and lost? Bummer. Doesn't make your play incorrect.
3handed with blinds this high I'm not folding any ace.

With 3 bb left he should be pushing almost any 2, especially if there's any chance that the blinds will fold. Also, as the big stack, I would be pushing basically every hand if people were tightening up trying to move up the pay scale.

You're getting a little more than 2 to 1 on your money and you have an ace 3 handed and shortstack is pushing.....call all day long.
