Grant Internet Access

Please forgive my ignorance, but I am computer retarded. I tried using the help feature on my computer, but did so to no avail.

I am trying to run Imesh on my computer. But whenever I open it, it will not connect to the Internet. After a couple minutes, it gives me a message telling me that my firewall is preventing it from accessing the Internet. I recall in the past, when applications have requested Internet access, a small window will appear on the right hand side of the screen asking me if I would like to grant Internet access to the application. But this is not happening with Imesh. I uninstalled it and re-downloaded it, but that didn't work.

How do I grant Imesh Internet access on my computer? Thanks.

Coop-

install imesh.
start-->control panel-->network and internet connections-->windows firewall-->make sure the "on" trigger is clicked

now click on the tab for "exceptions". look for imesh in the list. if it is there, check the box corresponding to it. if its not listed, click on add program-->search for the .exe file and select it to add imesh to the list-->check the box

this is to allow imesh to get past the windows firewall... if you are still blocked despite this; you are most likely behind additional software-based firewalls on your comp or perhaps attempting to use a port that has been flagged & shutdown by your school for being used to fileshare.

hope this helps some,
dd

if your at a college, some of the colleges are blocking the ports used for P2P sharing like [censored] and other sharing programs run on. It may not be on your end at all but with in the schools IT dept
