help me be an honest american!
I've been to a few of my local tax places and none of them knew anything about filing gambling winnings (one even told me i dont have to report it since they dont give me a form like casinos do). So can someone plz recommend a good CPA in LA. I just wana pay my taxes and sleep easy.

I find it hard to believe a CPA didn't know anyhting about gambling winnings/losses. A mom and pop who only does taxes during the season, maybe. The L A phone book must have 1000's of tax preparers. Just start calling.

Re: help me be an honest american!
Uh, you put them on line 21 of your 1040. And then you can deduct up to that amount on Schedule A if you elect to itemize deductions. If you're a professional gambler, you file a schedule C and SE instead of declaring them on line 21.
Run screaming from any CPA who doesn't already know this. |
