Author Carl Varrone, a successful business owner and poker enthusiast began his research for What No One Else Is Saying About Online Pokerin 1998. His curriculum included reading numerous books and firsthand experiences in casino poker rooms learning to master the game. When poker rooms started popping up on the internet, Varrone found himself playing online every chance he could. Through his years of playing and research he was compelled to write this book. Every person playing online poker or considering it should learn from his experiences before getting in on the action. [/ QUOTE ] Sounds like this guy is finally putting in print what most of the online veterens prolly already know. It was only a matter of time, I guess, before a book like this got published. Thoughts/opinions/kneejerk reactions? |
Re: What No One Else Is Saying About Online Poker
So this guy is saying that online poker is bad because sites rip us off and there are a lot of cheaters and pros are losing all their money because it so easy to click a button or something like this?

Re: What No One Else Is Saying About Online Poker
Don't know, just read the description so far.
I imagine he discusses collusion quite a bit, however. |
Re: What No One Else Is Saying About Online Poker
I doubt you will read anything new about on-line cheating that you wouldn't already know from reading the various poker forums.

Re: What No One Else Is Saying About Online Poker
This looks self published. Look at the cover illustration! There are excerpts on his website and he doesn't appear to be a real writer:
[ QUOTE ] I didn’t write this book with any intentions of teaching you how to play Texas Hold Em or to guarantee you a trick or a system that’s going to beat the odds or any sites software. This book is going to teach you what I learned from let’s say “on the job training” from actually playing online and offline along with the years of research staying current on all the different issues only found and directly related to the online poker environment that can and will alter the true and honest outcome of any hand being played at any time. [/ QUOTE ] The topics he claims to be discussing might be interesting ones, but this guy doesn't look the person to be doing it. Don't know if it's the same guy, but there's some info online about a Carl Varrone being charged with some sort of crime, but my lack of attention span prevents me from reading further. EDIT: Yeah, here's his "publisher". I really think this guy is about to blow the lid off this thing! |
Re: What No One Else Is Saying About Online Poker
Collusion and botting are two things that cannot be denied in online play, and you're a total idiot if you think online poker isnt a completely different game.

Sounds like one long bad beat story. He was "compelled" to share with everyone. |

[/ QUOTE ] I know it's a completely different game. I kind of waiting for the legions of 2p2r's that are going to storm this thread to deny that. Hint....botters and colluders? |
Re: What No One Else Is Saying About Online Poker
Just some [censored] trying to start some hype and contoversy to sell a book that is probabley worthless.
I woulden't even bother to piss on it to put it out if I saw it on fire let alone pay anything for it. |
