NL10: Queens , ace on the river

Villain is a weak and passive. I'm positive he paired the ace here... should I have bet more on the flop/turn? I was hoping to induce incorrect calls with a flush draw/pair.

Bet more on the flop and bet more on the turn (I would bet at least 0.75 and 1.50, respectively).

If you are positive he paired the ace, fold. As played, I call that river bet and make a note of what he'll take that line with.

I bet $2 on turn. There are now two flushdraws out there, a straigthdraw and some possible overcards.

As played, against an unknown, I'd call... You are getting better than 4-1 odds and he could very well have been on a draw and missed.

Re: NL10: Queens , ace on the river

My reasoning for betting these amounts on flop/turn is they would very likely get called by a flush/straight draw/overcards, even though such hands don't have the hand odds to do so. As I understand it, if my opponent is on a flush draw, and I give them 2:1 odds and they call anyway, then in the long run that benefits me right?

a flush draw will probably call you for more money and you never know if he has an inside str8 draw etc. to go with it. Build the pot now to cut the guys implied odds if he hits..

This is true only if you don't pay off when the draw hits. Also, if you think your opponent will call more, then by betting more he is making an even bigger mistake hence higher EV for you.

I'd call, looks like he was drawing and is trying to bluff you out.

Agree with Elmo. He was probably on a draw, but didn't hit, and got a fine opportunity to bluff with an Ace on river. Even if he did have the ace, you'd get a read on him.

Re: NL10: Queens , ace on the river

He's 4:1 on each street or 2:1 if he plans on playing both the turn and river no matter what. Make the flop $0.75, turn 3/4 PSB, and if he still calls all that I might even consider leading the river when the A hits. But as played I call that river bet. You're getting 5:1 odds.

Re: NL10: Queens , ace on the river

Must bet more on the flop and turn. The fundamental weakness of low stakes players is calling down too much, they will donitnue to do it here despite the bad odds. Given the action, you cannot fold to a tiny bet on the river. you have him beat enough to call that bet.
