UTG: is thinking aggresive player, plays slightly too loose pf though.
MP: No read

UTG calls, MP calls, folded to me in the BB with 99.

I raise, both players call.

Flop: 8c7d4c

I bet, UTG raises, MP cc, I call with plan to donk turn.

Turn: 6s

I bet, UTG raises, MP 3bets, I call, UTG folds.

River: 5h

I bet.

Should I 3-bet the flop for value, or wait till the turn to try and protect my hand. Thoughts?

You can certainly three bet that flop. I think you have value there as well as being able to see if UTG goes four bets. As played is ok as well. I think it is important to keep in mind that you raised your big blind preflop as the hand progresses. Even bad players who do not think a lot will notice that and put you on a big hand. If they play back extremely aggressively you could be in trouble.

I hope they both paid you off on the river hoping to play the board!

I think you should 3 bet the flop. You have an overpair & need to protect it. I have never been to this casino & have no idea how they play there but that's what I'd do.

I like calling and donking a blank turn. A raise out of the BB usually looks like a lot of strength, so I get worried when UTG raises you. I'm not yet convinced that we're behind, but even if ahead our hand is pretty vulnerable and there are lots of cards to come and kill us.

That turn isn't a blank, though. Not only could it have made someone a straight, but it gives you a nice straight draw, so now you can't bet-fold anymore. I think this is a "check with outs" type of turn.

Given your turn bet, I think the rest of the hand is standard. I actually sorta want to fold the turn, but we can't, getting 6:1 with at least 7 outs.

Boober was dead on. Our initial strategy should be to bet a safe turn. Sure there's likely value in a flop 3bet, but we're up against 2 villians, OOP, w/ many scare cards to come. Now that the turn gives us a draw, it's important that we see the river as cheaply as possible. Worst case scenario is we get tied to a growing pot w/ a hand that we can't get away from.

Weird spot, but I'd three bet the flop. Not to protect the hand, because nobody's folding, but I think it will give you a much better idea of where you stand headed into the expensive streets. Also, I'm not convinced you're behind after one raise from a loose aggressive player. Now if the flop is 4 bet or your turn bet is raised, you can figure that your pair is in trouble.

There are scare cards that can come, but it will be difficult to tell what is a scare card and what isn't. Is any picture card bad? What about an 8, 7, 4, 5 or 6?
