Stars 18-man\'s: When to move up?

I've been playing the Stars $6.50 18-mans for a little while now, about 1,000 of them, and I've made about $1,200 profit, so (correct me if I'm doing the math incorrectly), I make an average of $1.2 profit, so that gives me an ROI of 1.2/6.5=18%. I'm pretty sure I have the skill to perform at the $16 18-mans, but I doubt I'm properly rolled for it. What should my BR be at if I was to play 1/2 $6.50's and 1/2 $16's and why? Thanks.

I believe many advocate having 100 BIs for the level you want to play at. at 16$, around 1600, though I think you can get away with 75 BI as well, especially if you've been running well. Around 1200-1500 should be a good starting BR to stand any variance you may encounter. FWIW, I play at around 50 BIs and I haven't had any problems.

Somehow I feel like 18-man tournaments belong more in the STT forum than in this one. I may be wrong though.

I was wondering that myself. I've been dabbling a bit with these exact same tournies when I get a little burnt out on cash (mostly $50NL) and have had quite a bit of success through the first 100 or so.

OP, what's your SN?

For MTT 100 buy-ins is pretty good to move up, but I'll take occasional shots at the next level for every four or five I play at my current level.

For 2-tables I would think your variance should be quite a bit lower and you could get away with less buy-ins. $1200 + your original bankroll should be more than adequate for the $16s.

You can spend some time guessing what my SN is, but I would imagine you would want it to possibly search for me on SharkScope (not sure why else you'd want it), so here's my current graph, to give you an idea of what I'm going through here (ignore the first 1300 or so S&G's, I didn't start playing 18-mans seriously until the 1300 mark):

Just like to know when I'm at a table w/der 2+2'er. Couldn't give a flyin' F about Sharkscope.

There is no money in sit and goes anymore.

Learn another kind of poker...

This does belong in the STT forum and it is probably covered in the sticky atop their page
