10NL - 200BB+ deep, frustrated 99 versus LAG
Villain has been running at 40+/20+/4+ and has built stack by aggressively betting people out of pots. Will donk bet flop into pre-flop raiser with any piece of board, or overs, and keep firing on later streets with no resistance. Has check-raised my c-bets on a few hands, will lay it down to a push over the top. Will call all-in on raggy flop with overs.
Comments on all streets appreciated. I do not regularly 3-bet 99 but I wanted to isolate and felt that I was way ahead of villains range here. Looking back at the hand, I felt that if 3-betting is correct here, I probably went a little light. Villain has donked several times with any piece of the board or overs, so the donk bet here did not alarm me. When looking back at the hand, I felt that if a raise was correct here, I again went a little light and should have made it $6. ... and here you continue with your read on him?
I would have looked to hit a set on him with 99 rather than build a big pot with it. Here I think you either have to push staying with your read or let it go. From what you said above he is doing what he always does, but the unfortunate thing is donkeydonks can hit hands too and unless you have the nuts you are never going to be completely sure. On the bright side, if you did push and were beat he should give it all back to you when you show up with a better hand next time |
Re: 10NL - 200BB+ deep, frustrated 99 versus LAG
Yar, I went with my read, pushed, and was not particularly happy to see him call. My hand held up as he was holding KQo but I questioned afterward whether I played the hand like a complete tilting donk myself.

Were you tilting? If not, then you made a good read and had the courage of your convictions. If so, then you got lucky.

I'd rather give these guys rope than push with 99 into their strength.
