How many of you actually prefer the electronic tables over the real thing??

How many hands per hour do you avg. on one of these monsters??

Do you think player mistakes are magnified by the speed and ease of play??

I tried it once and was bored to tears. It was 4/8 limit at a Dog track near Memphis. The whole vibe at the table seemed more sinister and less cheerful. Also people seemed to take things more personally. For the first time I got to see what the glossy eyed drooling feinds looked like on the the other end of my computer. I like to entertain myself with chip tricks and enjoy the feel of having cards. Maybe I should just bring some chips to the table. Also, chip and card tells can be very reliable.

I stopped by to take a look at Hollywood Park's etables a few weeks ago and it didn't look that exciting. One $50-$100 buyin NL (1/2) game going. I sat down for a few hours and it was pretty uneventful. Lots of bickering among the regulars though. Almost like an O8 game.

I just played one in Detroit for the first time this weekend (waiting for my live table to open). Saw that it encouraged even worse players than normal sitting down. Plus the rake was only $4 + bbj (instead of $6 + bbj). I was shocked at how little conversation happened at the table. It was like everyone was in their own little universe.
If it wasn't for the reduced rake I wouldn't play them, but we're getting killed here in Detroit with monster rake -- so I'm willing to keep playing for now. Live play is for the cards and chips and the actual act of putting chips into the pot IMHO.

Here is a shot of a pokertek table on a cruise to the US Virgin Islands.
The level of excitment you see was typical.
Notice that many of the players are holding a card in their right hand.( this was how they loaded their bankroll). They all were just kind of nervously tapping the card on the table and fumbling with it most of the time.
It was the most boring thing i have watched in a long time. They were dropping 10% to a $10 max in a 4/8 game.
I was told the 3/6 game was cheaper..$8 max( when they spread it). These guys had no clue how much they were paying to play. I didnt stick around long.

They hold the card because they use it to tap the screen to make their selctions (call, bet, fold, etc). It's easier to use than your finger.

That's the same table they use at HP.

Edit: except for the cup holders.
