Lake Charles / Coushatta LA

Wife has given me a birthday present by letting me go play this weekend - I'm heading to one or the other Fri morning coming back (to Houston) Saturday afternoon. Leaning towards Coushatta based on what I've heard and read...

Anyone thinking about being there? Might be nice to meet another 2+2er or two..

How's the air in those card rooms, do they still allow smoking in the poker rooms?

You'd have more options at the Isle. I play with some of the dealers form the Isle and they say every time they go to Coushatta to play, they are the only reason the 2/5 NL game even runs.

The Isle's got 2/5 NL (100 min, 300 or half largest stack max) running around the clock. They've also got 3-6-12 limit and on weekends a 5/10 1k max half holdem half omaha game.

Plus you can go across the lake to the new pinnacle casino, La'Buerge Du Lac if you want some non-poker action.

I'm not old enough to go to the Isle, but if you come by Steamboat Bills for some crawfish friday night, I'm be the short-haired guy behind the register wearing an Omega.

I've been to both and i'd say i liked the Isle more...better dealers IMO etc. Plus the 5/5 is pretty much a collection of horrible players...

Plus coming from Houston it's less time to get to the isle if you go to the couschatta i think it's like an hour more of a drive...? I may be wrong on the time but know the isle is easier to get to.

Last I heard the Isle in LC still had smoking in the room, but Coushatta went non-smoking at the first of the year. Other than that the rooms offer the same games. Get a players card and "clock in" when you play so you can get your meal comps.

Have fun.. BB

I'm planning on coming from Houston and being at both the Isle and Steamboat Bills (the location on I-10 just over the bridge) Fri-Sat with my wife. We'll be playing 3-6-12 and the tourneys Fri night and Sat noon, eating at Steamboat Bills whenever we have the chance.

I'm 6'3" 270 with a mustache-goatee and dark hair. Wife is 5'6" with shoulder-length light-brown hair.

L'Auberge du Lac does not have a poker room?

so is 3-6-12 mean (3 preflop 6 on the flop then 12 for the turn and river?) Thanks for the info. Sounds like a cool game to try.
